The low water pressure you feel is actually due to a low volume of water. As galvanized pipes age, the rust and corrosion cause the inside diameter of the pipe to close off, slowing down the flow of water. At the same time the reduced volume of water in the system is not sufficient to supply multiple fixtures at on time. The rust within the pipes is also transferred to your water that you are bathing with or worse, drinking. Eventually the rust will eat completely through the iron pipe and you will experience leaks or total failure. In the event that your house was plumbed with soft copper tubing beneath the concrete slab foundation, you may experience under slab leaks. |
|
| These leaks can be repaired by locating the leak and cutting into the slab to access the pipe and replacing the leaking section. The problem with the repair is that another future leak is likely somewhere else in the under slab system. The only permanent solution is to repipe the house or apartment building, bypassing the underground pipes. |

If you have an existing galvanized domestic system (fresh water intake system), the age of your premises is over 25 years or was built prior to 1980, chances are you have galvanized piping. Galvanized pipes (steel piping) rusts. Over a period of 25 years, a galvanized pipe will become so plugged with rust that a 1" pipe will look like a 1/8" pipe, or it will become so blocked, you will barely be able to see through the pipe. A domestic system consists of pressure vs. volume. Pressure is expressed by P.S.I. (pounds per square inch), which is measured by how much pressure the water department is pumping into your area. Volume is how much water can flow through your pipes. When your pipes are plugged, you do not intake the best possible volume on your premises. It is comparable to having clogged arteries. If you see signs of rust on the exterior of the pipes, erosion or corrosion, you have the potential for leaks or pipe bursts, which could cost you thousands of dollars in water damage. |

All hot water tubing is to be installed with sufficient off set expansion loops to insure adequate compensation for the co-efficiency of expansion and contraction. We acoustically isolate with cloth felt from the straps or structure to eliminate pipe hammering and hissing of the copper system.
